New Shell Helix Power 0W-40 The Carbon Neutral engine oils

Shell Malaysia has introduced its first line of carbon-neutral engine oils, the Helix Power and Protect range. The fully synthetic oils, which come in three varieties – Shell Helix Power 0W-40, 5W-40, and Shell Helix Protect 0W-30 – are made from 99.5% pure base oil derived from natural gas.

In an effort to offset the remaining carbon emissions, Shell is offering the option to purchase carbon credits to balance out the full lifecycle emissions of the Helix Carbon Neutral products. This move aligns with Shell’s goal of becoming a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050.

The Shell Helix Power 0W-40

The Helix Power 0W-40 is formulated with PurePlus Technology, a process that creates ultra-pure base oil from natural gas.

It has been tested on the F1 track for maximum engine power and is suitable for a range of modern gasoline and diesel passenger cars, particularly high-power and performance vehicles.

It is also recommended for use in direct injection turbocharged gasoline engines that require protection against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI).

Suitable for viscosities: 0W-40, 5W-40, 10W-40
API SN PLUS
ACEA A3/B3, A3/B4

The Helix Protect 0W-30

The Shell Helix Protect 0W-30 is also made with PurePlus Technology and is designed for drivers who demand maximum protection, particularly in city driving conditions.

It offers Shell’s maximum protection in extreme hot and cold temperatures and in severe driving conditions. It can be used in modern gasoline engines, diesel engines (without particulate filters), and gas engines, and is suitable for use with biodiesel and gasoline/ethanol blends.
